Updated Coaching Services and Discounted Lessons!

Lesson Discounts!

Hey all, as many of you are well aware; I have just recently started to coach here at chess.com. I usually charge $20.00 per hour, but for a limited time, I will be charging $15.00 per hour. Also, I have added many, many more options to my coach profile. I just wanted to give a brief description of each one here:

Service
Description
Price
1 hour lesson
I give the student a 1 hour lesson (usually I go over time for about 15 min) where the student has the opportunity to learn whatever I feel would be most beneficial to him. Through these lessons I improve not only the opening, middle game, and endgame, but I also improve thought process, tactical vision, and positional skills.
$15.00 for a limited time only!
Deep Analysis
If you are having trouble improving and want some help identifying your weaknesses, then send me a game that you played and I will analyze it. I will pick it apart and point out your mistakes and identify your weaknesses. This will help you to design a way to work on your weaknesses.
$10.00 only!
Correspondence Game w/ me along with postgame analysis
Correspondence Chess is one of the best ways to improve. It gives you time to analyze each and every move and play the best possible continuation. If you are looking to have someone identify your weaknesses, then feel free to play me. After the game, I will give you analysis and tips.

Live Game with Postgame analysis
This option is very similar to the option listed previously, but it simulates real conditions and allows me to assess your skill with a certain time restraint. It will give you an opportunity to show what you would play like in a tournament and lets me identify your key weaknesses. After the game, I will analyze it with you on the analysis board in live chess.
$15.00
Opening Preparation
If you are looking for help on a specific opening, then this would be a great option for you. With this, I will create an opening tree that includes all the variations. This option allows you to do your own study of the opening when you have time, so it doesn’t have to be all at once. It is great for tournament preparation!
$10.00
Ultimate Package
If you are a really dedicated student and want to improve very quickly, then I suggest that you buy this. It is what I call the “Ultimate Package” where you get 5 lessons and 1 game with me along with postgame analysis. I also will throw in some optional homework assignments and a few blitz games so that you have the opportunity to practice what I teach you. It includes 2 opening lessons, 2 middlegame lessons, 1 endgame lesson, 5 blitz games, and optional homework assignments.

$110.00
Best of 9 blitz games
If you want to practice a line against me, or just want to have some fun, then feel free to play some blitz games vs. me. After the games, I will give you some analysis on what you could improve.
$10.00

Now, I know you all are going to say why should I take lessons from you when there are titled players out there who can teach as well. Well one thing I can say that differentiates me from other coaches is the fact that I truly spend a lot of time trying to make the lessons extremely enjoyable and beneficial for each student. I do not try and make the student a clone of myself. I try to make a great relationship with my students and I have been known to teach very well. If someone is really good at something, it does not mean that they can necessarily teach it. I have the skills to teach you to improve up to my level and I can prepare you to improve beyond my level. I have taught many students and I am currently teaching 3 others. I have a few spots open, so if you are interested in being one of my students, then let me know. I would be happy to help you improve.

I am qualified as a teacher as well: Here are some of my qualifications:

·         RI state scholastic champion 2012
·         RI state scholastic blitz co-champion 2012
·         Rated 1462 USCF
·         Taught for 3 years, both private and group lessons. (If you want to schedule a group lesson then feel free to contact me!)
·         I have a 100% satisfaction rate (ask any of my students, past or present)
·         I am willing to put in the time and effort that it takes to help you to improve!

Tactics Training

Hey all,
I plan on posting some general tips every day so that you all can continue your improvement. The first thing that I suggest is that you all practice some tactical problems daily, for at least 30 minutes. This will keep your tactical vision strong and help you remember patterns. Chesstempo.com is a great site for this (they give free tactics training) and chess.com has a tactics trainer as well!

Good luck and Good chess,
Eric

Lessons with me

Hey guys,
Have you hit a point where you are unable to improve? Are you struggling on some idea that you just want to get bye? Do you want to accelerate your chess improvement? If you answered yes to any of these, you have just landed on the right blog! I personally have been giving lessons for a few years now with a great success rate. All of my students have improved tremendously, and I can help you improve as well. I have been coaching chess for 3 years and have helped people gain many rating points over their time playing chess. My first student gained 600 points after about 4 months worth of lessons with me. Overtime, he continued to improve and is now playing at about 1400 strength (when I started coaching him he was a 600). My second student, who I coached for a month was rated 1100. After the month had passed, he had gained 200 rating points and was very happy with his improvement. I have a few current students as well. GrevA92 (Alec Grevstad) is currently one of my most active students. In the last two weeks, he has went from 1100 to nearly 1300. Thats 200 points! I charge minimal fees for my lessons and I can guarantee that you will improve from my lessons! My coach profile can be found here: www.chess.com/coach/eric

If you are interested in taking lessons with me, feel free to send me a message through chess.com. Ill answer it ASAP.

Good luck with your chess,
Eric
